The ancient forum at the Makthar archaeological site, the remains of the ancient city of Mactaris, in central-western Tunisia, is located in Makthar, a town on the northern edge of the Tunisian mountain range. The site is one of the largest in the country, and a large portion of it has not yet been the subject of archaeological research. The Makthar archaeological site, the remains of ancient Mactaris, in central-western Tunisia, is located in Makthar, a town on the northern edge of the Tunisian mountain range. The site is one of the largest in the country, and a large portion of it has not yet been excavated.
