Starting today, the government has imposed a four-day nationwide lockdown, thereby preventing Tunisians from commemorating the 10th anniversary of the revolution and Ben Ali’s departure on January 14, 2011. Habib Bourguiba Avenue is cordoned off under heavy police presence. The martyrs of the revolution, who were staging a sit-in in downtown Tunis at a government presidential building, did try to reach Habib Bourguiba Avenue but were stopped by the police and had to turn back.
