Leila, the mother of Youssef, a 29-year-old man who went missing at sea in July 2020, tells us from her living room about her son’s harrowing journey during his illegal crossing. Eleven young people, including one girl, set out from the Tunisian coast in late July 2020 and were lost at sea; without fuel, they drifted for 11 days—the two survivors.
